WNYSeniorCare.org Launches New Community Resources Page
To Lend a Hand to Caregivers

Buffalo, N.Y. – WNYSeniorCare.org, a regional Web site geared toward helping families find senior care solutions, recently added a new Community Resources section, which lists services that people often seek for the day-to-day care of their senior loved ones.

The Community Resources section includes contact information for county offices for the aging for the Western New York region as well as adult day care programs, medical equipment providers and additional information services. Each resource listing on the page includes contact information, including Web sites when applicable, and a brief description of each organization.

Since WNYSeniorCare.org’s launch in November of 2006, more than 1,000 people have used the online senior care assessment tool hosted on the site. Internet technology enables caregivers to fill out a questionnaire on such issues as the senior’s nutritional needs, level of family support, behavioral changes, safety and mobility, and then suggests a level of care appropriate for that senior. A list of providers with contact information accompanies the suggested level of care.

In addition to the senior care assessment tool, families will find links to other sources of information in Western New York and around the country. Site users will also find articles about issues facing caregivers of elderly loved ones today and answers to frequently asked questions.

WNYSeniorCare.org was developed by members of the Western New York Association of Homes and Services for the Aging and is sponsored by the Western New York Foundation for Homes and Services for the Aging. More than 120 regional providers of senior services are listed within the senior care assessment tool’s database.
